Introducing Charlie McCullough!

Charlie McCulloughIn the last week or so, there has been a lot of hype surrounding my affiliation with the Financial Fiduciaries Team. I have to say that I am not used to this kind of grandeur and attention. But with that in mind, I wanted to take the time in this blog post to formally introduce myself.

As the title of this blog suggests, my name is Charlie McCullough. And despite my less than human appearance, I am just a regular guy. I have life issues just like anyone else, and I have a lot of questions and concerns regarding current and future financial decisions. But thankfully, I have the team at Financial Fiduciaries to help guide me through those decisions and assist me in developing a portfolio and plan that will allow me to reach my financial goals. And, because the Financial Fiduciaries team is fee only, I know that the advice they are giving me is in my best interest rather than to help them reach their commission goals (that’s because they don’t work on a commission structure!).

So now for a little bit about me… My formal name is Charles Philip McCullough, although my friends call me Charlie or Chuck. I am a manager at a mutual insurance company. I love football (GO PACK, GO), hunting and just about anything related to the outdoors. I also love spending quality time with my family. I am married to a wonderful woman named Lisa (pictured here with me); she is a family practice doctor. Lisa and I have one daughter, Ava, who is four years old. In addition to Ava, I have two other Charile and Lisa McCulloughchildren with my first wife, Margo. Sheldon (20) is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Callie (17) is a junior in High School, and is just starting to make her college plans.

In addition to Ava and my wife, my parents, Donald and Janice also live with us. They are retired and help us care for Ava during the work week. Right now they are pretty mobile, however, I know a day will come when Lisa and I will need to make some tough decisions regarding their care.

As you can see, I have a pretty full and complicated life. I look forward to sharing our story through postings on this blog. I am sure you will find that we have a lot in common and share many of the same concerns, dreams and aspirations. Please feel free to add comments or questions to my blog posts. I would be happy to get input from my advisors and Financial Fiduciaries to help you with your questions as well. Looking forward to taking this journey with all of you!

About Objectively Speaking

Tom Batterman, founder of Vigil Trust & Financial Advocacy and Financial Fiduciaries, LLC is in the business of representing the best financial interests of his clients. Having provided objective, fee-only financial management services for over two decades, he specializes in managing the investment and related financial affairs of individuals and mutual insurance companies who do not have the time, interest or expertise to manage such matters on their own. As an objective, unbiased professional who takes on a fiduciary responsibility to his clients, he guides clients to the financial decisions they would make themselves if they had years of training and experience and the time and expertise to fully research and understand all of their options. Founded in 2010 as an outgrowth of Vigil Trust & Financial Advocacy, Financial Fiduciaries, LLC is a financial management solution for individuals and mutual insurance companies who recognize they do not have the time, interest or expertise to properly attend to their financial matters on their own. While there are many financial “advisors”, most of them have investment products to sell and the “advice” they provide is geared toward getting their clients to engage in a purchase. As one of the rare subset of advisors known as “fiduciary advisors”, Financial Fiduciaries does not sell any investment product so its guidance is not compromised by conflicts of interest which plague ordinary advisors. Prior to his employment in the financial industry in financial advocacy and trust positions, he worked at a private law practice in the Wausau area in the areas of estate planning, tax, retirement planning, corporate organizations and real estate. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the UW-Madison Law School and has during his career held Series 7, 24 and 65 securities licenses. A longtime resident of the Wausau, Wisconsin Area, Tom is active in the community. He enjoys golf, curling, skiing, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.
